Sample 1 – Established Shliach

My Dear Friends, –––– Jewry,

Lubavitch is here! Here permanently and prominently. Its projects, messages and allure is far-reaching. In more than one way the entire Jewish community is touched by Lubavitch. In fact, virtually every segment of our community is now doing “Lubavitch Work.”

No longer is putting on Tefillin a foreign thing; no longer is the possibility of being Shabbos-observant strange, and the Shmurah Matzoh certainly adds much beauty and warmth to so many Seder tables. If there is a problem Jewish, there is a listening ear, and you can expect Lubavitch to make the initiative to resolve it, to awaken and reawaken.

Lubavitch has made Judaism, with all its depth and beauty, relevant to us all, to the young and old, to the college student and school child, to the affiliated and non-affiliated. Lubavitch has brought life to the Jewish community, here, in –––––, as well as throughout the world.

But what’s behind these men and women, Rabbis and Rebbetzins? What makes them tick? What’s their agenda? What gives them the energy, the warmth, the ideas?

The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, whose 20th Yahrzeit will be commemorated this summer, has personally inspired each of these individuals.

Some were privileged to meet him in person and continue to be inspired by him to this day. Others never met him personally, but are enlightened by his wisdom and are energized by the radiance that continues to emanate from his teachings.

The following essay is a humble attempt to uncover the mystery of the Rebbe, who is responsible for the Jewish renaissance of our generation.

Rabbi –––– ––––.

Sample 2 – New Shliach, Event Announcement

June, 2014
Sivan, 5774

Dear Friends,

On July 01, 2014, corresponding to the third of Tamuz, 5774, we will commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of righteous memory.

As you probably know, our recent decision to move to ––– ––– was inspired by the Rebbe. Along with our little Mendel, we moved here late last year, and have since had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful individuals in our community. We also hold several weekly Torah classes. On Passover, fifteen –––– –––– friends, along with eight children, celebrated the Seder at our home.

As thousands of other couples have done in hundreds of cities and countries across the world, we decided to make it our life’s mission to share the beauty of our heritage with our fellow Jews. We are not bringing anything that every Jew does not already own; we are merely re-introducing that which is already yours. Torah and its mitzvot are the splendid birthright of every Jew.

We were taught this by the Rebbe. The Rebbe lived and exemplified true Jewish unity. He showed us how Torah and Mitzvos are a true source of life. He inspired us to move beyond the confines of what may have been more comfortable, in deciding to spend our lives here in Bouldertown. We do this in order to enrich the lives of Jews who may not have had the opportunity to learn of this heritage in years past.

This booklet, The Rebbe, An Appreciation examines some of the Rebbe’s teachings. We hope you will find it interesting and illuminating. Please feel free to contact us with any comments or questions you may have.

In connection with the Rebbe’s Yahrzeit, we will have a gathering at our home at 645 Almond Lane in Bouldertown on July 01, at 7:30 PM. We will watch a video called Challenge; the Rebbe’s Call to Every Jew Never to Rest, followed by a round-table discussion on the topic. Hors devours will be served.

For any questions about our activities here, to get together for a Shabbos meal, or to RSVP, please call us at ––––––––, or drop me an e-mail at –––@–––.org. We look forward to meeting you!

Rabbi ––– and ––– –––.

Sample 5– Chabad of Texas

B"H

Dear Friends,

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, cared deeply for every Jew. Fourty years ago, our family came to Texas with the Rebbe's encouragement and blessings. Prior to our departing, in a private audience which we will never forget, he assured us that our efforts would bear fruit.

The Rebbe's assurance has come true - more than we could ever have imagined. Shuls, schools, preschools, camps, Mikvaot and more have established a presence throughout Texas, with the inspiration of the Rebbe.

The Rebbe's love for every Jew motivated the Aishel House, catering to the needs of the patients and families of the Texas Medical Center. More recently, the Friendship Circle was created to provide support and counseling for challenged children and their families. The Rebbe's passion to reach out to every single Jew, wherever he may be, whatever his level, inspires Chabad's ongoing prison chaplaincies and visitations to the incarcerated. Isolated Jewish communities throughout Texas are visited periodically bolstering Jewish identity and planting seeds of Judaism. Chabad's activities on campuses provide a Jewish environment and create the embrace of "family" for the faculties and students, as a home away from home.

Torah study groups for adults, with classes on every subject in five languages and most notably the acclaimed Jewish Learning Institute, and our many other numerous holiday and Jewish pride programs, are each the result of the Rebbe's emphasis on Jewish education, regardless of knowledge or age.

Some leaders create followers. The Rebbe, it has been said, created leaders. The twenty Shluchim families in our state - eight of whom have arrived since the Rebbe's passing in 1994, bear testimony to the Rebbe's inspirational leadership. If you have spent a Shabbat at one of the Shluchims' homes, attended a class or holiday workshop led by one of the dynamic Rabbis and Rebbetzins, you have seen the truth in this statement. Through the work of each of these emissaries of the Rebbe, and through their colleagues in every corner of the world, the Rebbe's vision becomes a reality.

In commemoration of the forthcoming yartzeit of the Rebbe, we are pleased to present you with this booklet which highlights several areas of the Rebbe's life and distills some of his enduring teachings for all of mankind. We hope you will enjoy reading it and sharing it with others. Together we will extend the Rebbe's legacy.

Wishing you and yours the very best,

Rabbi Shimon Lazaroff

P.S. For your benefit, a full list of our institutions and contact information can be found on the inside back cover of this booklet. We would love to hear from you.

Sample 6– Chabad of Sarasota

Dear Friends,

In the past few years, Sarasota and Manatee Counties have seen a tremendous growth spurt. This trend has given us the initiative to establish an additional two outreach centers, serving Bradenton and Venice. Hence, it has been a year since Rabbi Mendy and Chanie Bukiet have established the Chabad of Bradenton, and just recently Rabbi Sholom and Chaya Schmerling have established the Chabad in Venice.

Have you ever wondered what’s behind these men and women, Rabbis and Rebbetzins? What makes them tick? What gives them the energy, the warmth, the ideas?

The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, whose 20th Yartzeit will be commemorated this summer, has personally inspired each of the Chabad Rabbis and Rebbetzins. It is said, that some leaders create followers, the Rebbe, created leaders.

By way of his deep inspiration, thousands of emissaries – Shluchim, assure that the Rebbe’s legacy lives on. Love, care and sensitivity to every Jew are some of the Rebbe’s hallmarks, which empower us to enrich the lives of our fellow Jews.

Throughout the 22 years that Sara and I have been serving the community, many have had the opportunity to learn about the Rebbe. In honor of the Rebbe’s 20th Yartzeit, we are pleased to present you with this booklet, which is a humble attempt to uncover the mystery of the Rebbe, who is responsible for the Jewish renaissance of our generation.

Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz
